About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate individual to join our Advisory Board. As an Advisory Board Member, you will be responsible for providing strategic advice and guidance to our organization, helping us make the most effective decisions for our mission. Your duties will include attending quarterly Board meetings, and providing critical feedback on our activities and objectives.

The Advisory Board serves as a critical community champion of the Mumineen CDC. Members of the Advisory Board share their gifts in service to our mission by providing our organization with their professional expertise; their diverse knowledge of constituent perspectives; their connections to local, national or international resources, colleagues or peers; their philanthropic support or other forms of needed assistance. The Advisory Board has no governing function within the organization.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience serving on a non-profit board, and a vast knowledge of our organization’s mission and goals. You should be a problem-solver who can think critically and come up with creative solutions. Additionally, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a team, are essential.

Requirements

  • Have served on a nonprofit board of directors

  • Have expertise in one of the following disciplines: finance, management, governance, fundraising and advancement, nonprofit programming, workforce development, public policy, offender reentry, academia, education, youth development, technology, and business.

  • Reside in one of the following Indiana counties: Marion, Hamilton, Johnson, Hendricks, Boone, Monroe.

  • Able to commit to one (1) four-hour meeting four (4) times per year.


About Mumineen CDC

The Mumineen Community Development Corporation (Mumineen CDC) is a  nonprofit mosque-based faith-centered community development organization located in Indianapolis, Indiana that was created to provide social services to underserved communities in Indianapolis, Indiana and surrounding counties. Mumineen CDC is co-located inside Masjid Al Mumineen, the 3rd oldest Muslim house of worship in Indianapolis. The corporation is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, educational, and scientific purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code.
